A little thing to ponder on....the nature of kingship
If you've been feeling something is in the air tonight (with apologies to Phil Collins), you are probably right. Over the past two weeks, we have had very significant changes in our sky stories. This, coupled with the Full Moon on the 11th June, made it all very interesting and it all has to do with Jupiter and Saturn.
Firstly, gone are the days of Saturn (discipline) in Pisces (spirituality). On the 24/25th May, Saturn changed sign and moved into Aries from the watery sign of the fish. Now, that energy will want to be expressed differently. No more building of inner boundaries.
In astrology, Saturn represents discipline, structure, responsibility, and karmic lessons. It governs time, maturity, and the development of wisdom through challenges. Aries, on the other hand, is the fiery, impulsive warrior of the zodiac—bold, independent, and quick to act. When Saturn finds itself in Aries, we encounter a paradox: the planet of patience and caution colliding with the sign of raw energy and unfiltered drive. This placement creates a complex push-pull action between control and impulsiveness, maturity and recklessness.
Secondly, that planet expressing expansion (something Saturn would frown upon without prior inspection and study), Jupiter changed sign at a late hour on the 9th June. Now in Cancer, the sign to do with the mother, the home and hearth, Jupiter is now focused on issues to do with profound family connections, a love for tradition, and an ability to find emotional abundance in caring for others. It is a placement of deep emotional wisdom and nurturing generosity.
Putting those two planets in a square (90 degrees apart) will produce a kind of push-pull effect between expansion (Jupiter) and restriction (Saturn). Another expression of this could be expanding-to-restrict. If you look at the world around us at the moment, you could probably see it being played out in a scenario where people/leaders act (Aries) to expand (Jupiter) security in their homelands (Cancer) by adding restrictions (Saturn). Ahem.... say no more.
Now let's look at the Full Moon of the 11th.
Keeping that Jupiter/Saturn configuration in mind, you should be able to spot that Saturn has Neptune sitting right next to it, whilst Jupiter has Mercury also accompanying it. A Saturn/Neptune vibe has something of an idealistic tinge to it, whilst Mercury - the communicator - with Jupiter expanding (exaggerating vibe) whatever Mercury is putting across. This is not an easy placement as it indicates that something is about to crumble before our very eyes. In hindsight, a sense of unease is what is probably the best description of the energy this full moon brings to us. Neptune is often described as having a 'dissolving' quality, which suggests a sense of loss. The star of the show, however, is the Mars in Leo Square (90 degrees - a challenging aspect) Uranus in Taurus. Mars in Leo is pretty much the warrior - and at 28 degrees of Leo carries the energy of Regulus, the Lion heart, much associated with bravery and courage. Uranus stands for revolution, sudden strikes and also modern science. And if you were wondering, in the early hours of the 13th June, the state of Israel attacked Iran's nuclear sites in what they called 'Operation Rising Lion'. The 28th degree of Leo is active in President Trump's chart (his Ascendant), Vice President Vance's chart (his Ascendant), the national chart of Israel (placement of Mars is exactly on 28 degrees of Leo), Benjamin Netanyahu (though his Mars is at 26*42 of Leo), Governor of California Gavin Newsom (Jupiter at 28 degrees of Leo) and the national chart of the USA (Moon is opposite at 27 Aquarius). One astrologer who made mention of the 84-year cycle of Uranus noted that a similar placement occurred in 1940/1941 when the world was fighting fascism.Makes fascinating reading, doesn't it?
On Saturday 14th June, we also saw Mars (the warrior) in the house of Kings (Leo) manifest a king's parade (King Charles Birthday parade) and also a 'no king's' parade (#47's birthday parade). Well, what did you expect? Regulus is, after all, a royal star.
All this makes you wonder who's in charge.
Peace.
Cindy
