Full Moon in Scorpio

Image
So yes, this is quite late....but I'll get this information out there nonetheless.  On the 12th May, just after sunset, a Full Moon rose in the East. This is the Full Moon in Scorpio, where we found ourselves drawn into the depths of transformation, mystery and intense emotions. Scorpio is the sign associated with the 8th House, the house of hidden truths and secrets. It's also associated with what lies beneath the surface, and as the light of the Full Moon illuminates what lies in the shadows, we could discover hidden treasure in all forms.  Looking at the chart for the Full Moon, Mars, the natural ruler of Scorpio, lay at the highest point in the chart at 11 degrees of Leo. Mars represents the warrior energy in a chart, what motivates you to get out of bed in the morning, and in this Full Moon chart it may well symbolise the gift of the skies this lunar cycle - the energy to pursue what we need to be our authentic selves with others.  So what was the sky story on...

Ready for a new start? New Moon in Scorpio

Image
Welcome to the New Moon in Scorpio, happening today 1st November at 13:47. There is much to say about this New Moon, a time of seeding new intentions.  In this post, we'll also have a look at what is on most people's minds - the US elections, as well as what the Malta 'sky weather' is like. Last but not least, what the sky portends for us lesser mortals.  So many oppositions in a New Moon chart speaks of polarities. It's either this, or that, black, or white. The most obvious polarity is that of Pluto opposite Mars at the anaretic (29 degrees) degree. This is HIGHLY charged - it is akin to saying "change or die staying the same" (die being a metaphor for 'things will be changed without your consent'). Mercury, which is currently transiting the very secretive sign of Scorpio, is opposite Uranus, the planet associated with sudden change and innovation. Communication here is being supercharged with inspirational thinking. Venus, the planet associate...

Full Moon in Scorpio tonight!

A full moon in Scorpio will grace our skies in the early hours of Wednesday 24th April. Full Moons represent the culmination of intentions set 14 days prior, in this case, at the New Moon on the 8th April, which was also a solar eclipse. That eclipse was associated with Chiron, the Wounded Healer, asking us to heal our inner wounds and transform them into our biggest strengths.  This Full Moon is actually doubly emotionally charged. Firstly, Scorpio is a sign associated with secrets, other people's resources, death and rebirth. Secondly, the Moon is highly secretive - a bottomless sea - in this sign, so we could see emotions  running high at this time.  And there's more..... To this, add the conjunction of Uranus and Jupiter in the sign of Taurus. This meeting of two heavenly giants occurs every 14 years, so although the astrological community has been looking into this cycle.  The last time this conjunction occurred was in June 2010, in the sign of Aries. Thi...

An Eclipse and a King

Image
This evening, at 7:34pm, a lunar eclipse in the turbulent sign of Scorpio will grace the heavens. What is remarkable about this particular lunar eclipse is not only the fact that it is occurring some hours before a much awaited coronation of a king, but also because this supercharged Full Moon lunation makes so many aspects to Charles Mountbatten-Windsor's own personal chart. Read on to find out more about that, but first, local matters. The chart on the left gives us a picture of the lunation as it occurs Malta time. It's interesting have a look at how it impacts the charts of people, or nations or even events.  A lunar eclipse typically blots out the Sun which means that Sol (Sun) will be hidden for a few minutes. If you think about this, it suggests that something will be hidden and the emotions (traditionally linked to the Moon) will take precedence. Furthermore, this eclipse occurs in the zodiac sign of Scorpio - that sign which talks about hidden things or secrets...

New Moon and a partial eclipse...

Tempus fugit, the saying goes. October is one busy month for me as I settle into a routine involving lesson plannng, meal planning and optimising sleep. Teaching is like that. However, I couldn't pass up writing something small about today's New Moon in Scorpio. It's a partial eclipse, to boot!  If you look at the chart, you'll notice that at the top are the glyphs for Venus, the Sun, the Moon and Mercury. This is a highly intense eclipse, given that it has a Scorpio vibe, but what is interesting is that the position of Venus at exactly the same degree as the Sun and Moon seems to indicate that it's all about her too.  Which brings me to last months article. For some reason unbeknownst to me, I decided to write a little about the position of Venus in the charts of President Putin and King Charles III. Venus figures much in  this eclipse chart and here she is in the sign of Scorpio.  Venus is the planet usually associated with beauty, charm and also money. She ...

The Moon embraces The Sun in Scorpio

Image
It always amazes me how sometimes life throws information at you about what is going on in the sky. We inadvertently get drawn   to do things which inform us. In a previous post, I wrote that an early morning DJ played “Life on Mars” and “Venus”, which makes an anyone into astrology smile. So I checked out the astrological aspects. The latest ‘shout-out’ from the cosmos certainly made me smile. It is a kind of “Hey you! Make sure you take note of this!” Those who know me are aware that sometimes I like to watch what is known as K-drama (Korean series). Over the past week, I’ve been watching a historical series called “Moon Embracing the Sun”. Apart from the storyline, the cinematography, the costumes, the fact that it takes me to a place far away in time is alluring. It is the title of the series which suddenly made me sit up. On Thursday 4 th November, the Moon will indeed embrace the Sun, that is, they appear to occupy the same portion of sky, in what we know as the New M...

Scorpio, Pluto and some fixed stars in the US National chart

Image
The Sun has sailed into the zodiac sign of Scorpio.  At 06:51 on the morning of the 23rd October, Malta time, the Sun began its journey through the sign associated with death and renewal. Traditionally, Mars rules this sign, although Pluto has come to be associated with it, which is why both planets are considered when looking at Scorpio in a chart.  So how did Pluto come to be a co-ruler of Scorpio? Historically, Pluto was discovered in the 1930s though apparently an astronomer by the name of Percival Lowell detected its possible existence as far back as 1905. When in 1930, another astronomer confirmed its existence based on the work of Percival Lowell, it was given the name Pluto, suggested by the 11 year-old daughter who thought it might be a good idea to name it after the god of the underworld. Its name also pays homage to Percival Lowell, containing the first letters of his name. And there you have it.  Pluto was famously demoted as a planet in 2007, much ...
