Plutonomics and Roberta Metsola: an astrological study

Image
You may be wondering why I chose to upload a blogpost entitled Plutonomics and its connection with President Roberta Metsola's chart.  Firstly, she is Maltese, and occupying one of the prominent positions in the EU is certainly of interest to astrologers. You may have been born on the same day but you aren't President, granted. The general idea is that planets in your natal chart have a way of playing out in your own life. How these aspects have played out in her life is very, very interesting.  So what does it have to do with Pluto? This small planet lost its status as a planet in 2006 which had us astrologers tickled pink - as if that was going to have us change the way we look at charts. The Moon isn't a planet either and yet it is a very important point in the chart. Same with Pluto.  In astrology, Pluto represents transformation, power, and rebirth. It governs the cycles of death, rebirth and renewal, symbolizing where power lies in the chart. When Pluto is pr...

New Moon in Leo.... and more (read on).

Image
Are you feeling the heat? Astrologically, a new moon is all about implementing new plans, bringing others to a close and setting new intentions. Although this is stated in each of the blog posts, they are not the same for each new moon in a year. A new moon in Cancer is not the same as a new moon in Pisces, though theoretically they are both water signs. What you may find is that if you keep a personal journal, during the Leo New Moons period the same issues generally tend to crop up. Of course, the planets are in different positions at any given new moon, when a seed is sown. Ask your gardener whether they would sow any seeds after the full moon...  This month's new moon  is in the fiery sign of Leo and occurs at around 13:30 on the 4th August. As such, a new moon in Leo focuses on the issue of creativity, as Leo is a sign associated with the heart and putting our ideas/creations out there into manifestation, and also being recognised for our works of art, be they idea...

Capricorn Full Moon and Everything else!!

Image
On July 21, 2024, at 12:17 CEDT, the Moon reaches its full illumination in the sign of Capricorn. This event marks the second Capricorn Full Moon of the summer, with the first one occurring on the 21 st June. There are key themes associated with Full Moon. First, lets have a look at the diagram for a visual. This chart is particular to Malta at the time of the Full Moon.  So - there's a Full Moon at 29 degrees of Capricorn (with the Sun at 29 degrees in Cancer). The Sun is about to change sign, and this is precisely the energy of this lunar event. This is what astrologers call the anaretic degree and it suggests that something is about to change. Having acquired all the knowledge and wisdom acquired from the Cancerian journey, we are now ready to jump into a new reality. That's the gist of it.  But wait! That Pluto is sitting on the Full Moon! Gosh - Pluto demands nothing less than transmutation and transformation. It does nothing by halves.  Neptune, the planet...

Pluto moves into Aquarius... time to change tack!

Image
This post is about Pluto. Yes, something 'big' is going on in the astrological skies. Pluto is moving sign - not something that happens every day as it is a very slow moving planet.  On the 21st January, at 01:56, this planet will move into the air sign of Aquarius. If Capricorn was the sign of big business, Aquarius is about how we, as a human race, move forward. This is quite a momentous time. Pluto has been stepping in and out of Aquarius since last year (retrograding back into Capricorn) and when it did enter Aquarius, we got AI. What Pluto in Aqua is about is rediscovering our humanity. Aquarius is about ideas, ideals, innovation and change. Just imagine Pluto, the planet associated with transformation there.... we will most definitely be challenged with changing how we view our ideologies. Pluto was in Capricorn from 2008 until now, and it challenged us on how we conducted business. Before that, when it was in Sagittarius, it all about how we viewed truth. Pluto will b...

New Moon in Sagittarius - dare to dream!

Image
This year's New Moon in Sagittarius occurs on the 13th December at 00:32, and because it is a new moon, it is travelling with the sun. If you look at the chart, the moment of the New Moon occurs some time during the night, shortly after midnight. New Moons are all about setting intentions, and this particular new moon is no different. If we go by the calendar month, then this new moon is the last one for 2023, so go ahead, think about what you want to sent in motion and what you want to cast aside. This is a new moon in Sagittarius, so think outside the box and ask yourself what you would like to prioritise over the next month. Let's also have a look at the story the sky is offering us.  Although there is nothing in the sky which is as dramatic as of late, you might notice that Mercury has an 'S' near it. This means that it is 'stationing', meaning that it is about to change direction. From the point of view from Earth, Mercury is about to start its retrograde...

An Eclipse and a King

Image
This evening, at 7:34pm, a lunar eclipse in the turbulent sign of Scorpio will grace the heavens. What is remarkable about this particular lunar eclipse is not only the fact that it is occurring some hours before a much awaited coronation of a king, but also because this supercharged Full Moon lunation makes so many aspects to Charles Mountbatten-Windsor's own personal chart. Read on to find out more about that, but first, local matters. The chart on the left gives us a picture of the lunation as it occurs Malta time. It's interesting have a look at how it impacts the charts of people, or nations or even events.  A lunar eclipse typically blots out the Sun which means that Sol (Sun) will be hidden for a few minutes. If you think about this, it suggests that something will be hidden and the emotions (traditionally linked to the Moon) will take precedence. Furthermore, this eclipse occurs in the zodiac sign of Scorpio - that sign which talks about hidden things or secrets...

Malta and Saturn Returns

Image
This is likely to be a short  blog post. Looking through some of my astro data yesterday I realised that Malta will shortly be celebrating its second Saturn return. Let me explain.  Countries also have birth charts. This is usually set for the time and date a country takes on an identity of sorts, say, like when a when a new king establishes a new beginning for a country. An example of this is when William of Normandy defeated King Harold I of England in 1066, and was crowned on Christmas Day of the same year. This is known as England's 1066 chart. Later on, when Great Britain  and Ireland (Wales was already incorporated into England  ) were united  were united by an act of parliament in 1801 , that became the chart used by most astrologers.   Likewise, although Malta has a few charts which astrologers could work with, for example the 1528 chart (when the Knights took over the islands), and the 1921 chart (Malta's first parliament), most astrolo...

Happy Birthday Independent Malta!

Image
This is just a short blog post to mark an important day in our island's history. On the 21st of September, in 1964, Malta ceased to be a colony of the British Empire. Today marks the 58 years of independence, which technically meant that we had our own government and that Queen Elizabeth II was our Head of State.  Using this chart as the birth chart of modern Malta (of course, we could look at the Republic chart, or the Accession to the EU chart, but this is the one used by astrologers), this gives Malta a Virgo Sun, which I think is in keeping with the tradition of the island's dedication to the Blessed Virgin Mary. If you know a little about our island's history, a few dates are connected with those holy days ascribed to Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.  Take Victory Day, celebrated on the 8th September (yes, the day Queen Elizabeth died; this is interesting, because in one way she was a mother figure to the island too). Not only is that date significant because it m...

Happy birthday, Malta!

Image
Whenever a child is born, parents who are interested in astrology might want to see a birthchart showing the position of the luminaries and planets at the time, place and date of birth. An experienced astrologer might then be asked to interpret the positions and relationships (what we call aspects) between the Sun, Moon and the planets for that child. And so it is the same with countries. Known as Mundane Astrology, countries too, have birth charts. They may also have more than one, depending on context and history. So what does Malta’s 1964 birthchart look like? A birthchart shows the positions of the Sun, Moon and planets at the time, date and place of birth, or beginning of a project/era. This is the Malta chart most commonly in use by astrologers, because it is considered to be the beginning of Malta as a nation in her own right, although one could make an argument for using the 13th December 1974 chart, when Malta became a republic. Nicholas Campion, a well-established...
