New Moon in Sagittarius - dare to dream!
This year's New Moon in Sagittarius occurs on the 13th December at 00:32, and because it is a new moon, it is travelling with the sun. If you look at the chart, the moment of the New Moon occurs some time during the night, shortly after midnight.
New Moons are all about setting intentions, and this particular new moon is no different. If we go by the calendar month, then this new moon is the last one for 2023, so go ahead, think about what you want to sent in motion and what you want to cast aside. This is a new moon in Sagittarius, so think outside the box and ask yourself what you would like to prioritise over the next month. Let's also have a look at the story the sky is offering us.
Although there is nothing in the sky which is as dramatic as of late, you might notice that Mercury has an 'S' near it. This means that it is 'stationing', meaning that it is about to change direction. From the point of view from Earth, Mercury is about to start its retrograde period, which means that it will look as though it is 'walking backwards' in the night sky. This happens a few times a year and indicates a time when communication can/may go a little awry (ha ha, my laptop is on the blink! Ouch! Expensive!). Mercury will be retrograde until January 3rd, when it goes direct again. Mercury is currently in Capricorn and will 'travel' back into Sagittarius where it will form a 90 degree aspect on its way back, and again on its direct motion around the 9th January. Any aspect involving Neptune and Mercury speaks of breaks in effective communication, a little like brain fog, so make this aspect work for you by taking the time to have a relationship with yourself. Take the time, too, to follow up on something that's attracted your attention. You never know, you might discover you are gifted at something you were hitherto unaware of.Jupiter and Venus make an opposition (they are opposite each other in the sky) which lasts a few days around the New Moon. Venus is all about networking, and as Jupiter is all about 'plenty' of anything, it would be wise to pace yourself on the social activity schedule.
Uranus, the planet associated with unexpected changes, makes a 150 degree aspect with the New Moon. Astrologers consider this aspect to be something that is neither a positive nor a challenging aspect, but rather something that is somewhat incomplete. So while on the one hand Uranus wants to deliver fresh inspiration (remember, we make our fresh intentions at the new moon), it may seem that they will be difficult to act upon. The operative word here is 'seem'. Again, tune into that Mercury/Neptune aspect and let your imagination do the rest. What may seem meaningless may actually be quite deep.
So, happy intentioning, everyone. Let your imagination be your guide during your 'me' time.
Lastly - Happy birthday, Republic of Malta. On the 13th December 1974, Malta became a republic. The Sun was in exactly the same position as our New Moon in Dec 2023. We are officially 39 years old (as a republic).
I hope you enjoyed reading this.
Blessings :)
