Ready for a new start? New Moon in Scorpio
Welcome to the New Moon in Scorpio, happening today 1st November at 13:47. There is much to say about this New Moon, a time of seeding new intentions.
In this post, we'll also have a look at what is on most people's minds - the US elections, as well as what the Malta 'sky weather' is like. Last but not least, what the sky portends for us lesser mortals.
So many oppositions in a New Moon chart speaks of polarities. It's either this, or that, black, or white. The most obvious polarity is that of Pluto opposite Mars at the anaretic (29 degrees) degree. This is HIGHLY charged - it is akin to saying "change or die staying the same" (die being a metaphor for 'things will be changed without your consent'). Mercury, which is currently transiting the very secretive sign of Scorpio, is opposite Uranus, the planet associated with sudden change and innovation. Communication here is being supercharged with inspirational thinking. Venus, the planet associated with money, networking and relationships is opposite Jupiter the benefic. This is definitely a positive energy. We therefore have six planets in three pairs of oppositions.
Of these three pairs, Pluto, Mars, Uranus and Neptune are very close to or are at the anaretic degree (29 degrees of any sign) - imminent/karmic change. This New Moon is highly charged!
The US elections next week are on many people's minds. Can astrologers tell who will become the next president of the US? Some good ones can, I suppose. I think it is more about who carries the specific energy. So let's look at the energy of the New Moon as it appears over Washington DC. The only difference between the Washington NM chart and the Malta chart is the angles - the degrees which mark the ascendant/descendant and midheaven/nadir. What is significant in the Washington chart is the Mercury/Uranus opposition (close to the ascendant/descendant), suggesting conflicting communication being announced - both parties claiming victory, perhaps?
What is interesting is that currently, Venus' declination is high, and is therefore out-of-bounds, giving in a 'wild card' status. It squares Kamala H's own natal Venus whilst conjoining DT's natal Moon. Both contenders seem to be making contact with 'wild card' energy; the situation is highly polarised in what seems to be a 'make or break' New Moon. The chart seems to suggest that both stand a fair chance of winning. Again, will both parties claim victory? Or is it a null result?
So what about us? How do we navigate this new moon? Being a Scorpio New Moon, it is about making a deeply emotional commitment to embark on something new and do away with old patterns. Pluto is poised to finally enter the sign of Aquarius within the next few weeks and it'll be transiting that sign for a good score years. We will, therefore, be operating in a new continuum. Aquarius is a sign that deals with the collective and it is a feminine sign.
Interestingly, Elizabeth the First of England had Pluto at 0* of Aquarius in her natal chart. She was a natal Virgo (interesting that she was called the Virgin Queen as she never married - though to date no one knows about her virginal status) and her reign heralded the Elizabethan Golden Age. Her father, Henry the VIII had split from Rome in order to divorce his first wife. Elizabeth navigated new territory; she inherited the throne at a time when women held little sway. Having received an excellent education, she was able to deal with inheriting a severely divided country with a poor infrastructure. Elizabeth took her country to a stable economy and the beginning of the colonial empire. Such is the 'energy' of Pluto in Aquarius - starting from a new reference point with a new set of rules.
Back to the sky story in our Maltese sky; inspiration (Mercury/Uranus), moderation (Venus/Jupiter) and avoidance of conflicts (Mars/Pluto) whilst setting up a structure for change (Saturn trine New Moon) is the way to go.
I hope you enjoyed reading this.
Blessings,
Cindy
