The Full Moon, Saturn and more....

Image
Yesterday's Full Moon in Taurus is at 24 degrees in Taurus - meaning the Sun is directly opposite in Scorpio at 24 degrees. Following on from the very ominous new moon, we have a full moon with an equally forceful vibe. With all that's happened over the past two weeks (US elections) one would hope that things would calm down a bit (oh that Mars/Pluto opposition at the 29th degree of Cancer/Capricorn). The coming Full Moon is quite packed. Let's have a look.  Let's remember what a Full Moon is. The Moon reflects the light of the Sun. If we set intentions at the New Moon, the Full Moon is when the light reaches its maximum and then begins to diminish. Even as a child I was told that if I were to plant seeds, I had to do it between the new and full moon. Over the past two weeks, we have witnessed a shift in world affairs as signified by Pluto/Mars at that anaretic degree (29 degrees of anything).  In astrological terms, what was planted at the New Moon finds its maximum ...

And the guns are blazing!! Note to self - chill!

Welcome to the Aries Full Moon which occurs on the 17th October at around 13:30. That evening, the Moon will rise in the east in a spectacular fashion. Since the beginning of summer we've had some powerful alignments and this month is no different. Just look at all the planets at twenty something degrees of a sign!  First of all, we need to look at the grand square in the chart. The Sun is opposite the Moon - that is typical of the Full Moon. This FM is in Aries, that is, warrior energy. The planet that rules Aries is Mars, which lies in Cancer at the moment. Mars' placement in this sign could be described as the warrior who defends the homeland (Cancer rules the home). Mars lies opposite Pluto, the planet associated with death and transformation. Death is a metaphor here for something coming to an end, which then transmutes and transforms into something new. Such is the principal energy of this Full Moon. When you consider what is going on in the world, one wonders whether ...

Just a short post....

Image
This is just a short post - I just had to share it with you as it had me jumping up and down with excitement. Just how crazy is this?  This morning I was perusing through some news about the DNC, who spoke, who said what and so forth. I don't think I'm the only one who is interested in how we humans are going set the scene for the next few years.  I watched a few videos and, of course, that included Pete Buttigieg's speech (the US Secretary for Transport). His birth data is pretty much available online, so I had a peek at his birth chart. For those who may not know, this guy has Maltese ancestry and so this made me even more curious. What's his ascendant? Where is his Moon?  Talk about the universe having its way of reflecting the sky story. If you have been following my posts over the past few months, you'll know that there are a few things going on that made me sit up when I saw this.  First of all, Uranus is currently transiting 26/27 degrees of Taurus, con...

New Moon in Leo.... and more (read on).

Image
Are you feeling the heat? Astrologically, a new moon is all about implementing new plans, bringing others to a close and setting new intentions. Although this is stated in each of the blog posts, they are not the same for each new moon in a year. A new moon in Cancer is not the same as a new moon in Pisces, though theoretically they are both water signs. What you may find is that if you keep a personal journal, during the Leo New Moons period the same issues generally tend to crop up. Of course, the planets are in different positions at any given new moon, when a seed is sown. Ask your gardener whether they would sow any seeds after the full moon...  This month's new moon  is in the fiery sign of Leo and occurs at around 13:30 on the 4th August. As such, a new moon in Leo focuses on the issue of creativity, as Leo is a sign associated with the heart and putting our ideas/creations out there into manifestation, and also being recognised for our works of art, be they idea...

Capricorn Full Moon and Everything else!!

Image
On July 21, 2024, at 12:17 CEDT, the Moon reaches its full illumination in the sign of Capricorn. This event marks the second Capricorn Full Moon of the summer, with the first one occurring on the 21 st June. There are key themes associated with Full Moon. First, lets have a look at the diagram for a visual. This chart is particular to Malta at the time of the Full Moon.  So - there's a Full Moon at 29 degrees of Capricorn (with the Sun at 29 degrees in Cancer). The Sun is about to change sign, and this is precisely the energy of this lunar event. This is what astrologers call the anaretic degree and it suggests that something is about to change. Having acquired all the knowledge and wisdom acquired from the Cancerian journey, we are now ready to jump into a new reality. That's the gist of it.  But wait! That Pluto is sitting on the Full Moon! Gosh - Pluto demands nothing less than transmutation and transformation. It does nothing by halves.  Neptune, the planet...

Taurus New Moon and Venus as Lucifer the Morning Star

Image
A New Moon in Taurus graces our skies early morning on the 8th May 2024.  The New Moon always speaks of the end of one lunar cycle and the opportunity to work with a new 'story board', so to speak. Taurus is always about stability; it is a fixed sign and also an earth sign. It is about maintaining the status quo. A New Moon in Taurus asks us to sit down and become aware of the resources we have or perhaps need in order to grow. Set your intentions in preparation for the Full Moon later on in the month.  So let's see what story the sky is offering us. The New Moon in Taurus is accompanied by two planets, Uranus and Jupiter. These two planets accompany what we call the two 'lights' (Sun and Moon) and offer us the opportunity to 'break the mould' or perhaps do things differently (for a less dramatic expression) and also cautiously (Taurus likes stability). Taurus represents that which we attach value to. But there's more. Taurus is ruled over by Venus and...

Last Full Moon of the Old Year...Ringing in the new

Image
The 'old' year is coming to an end, and what a year it's been. Heat - lots of it....the hottest year on record, plus the wildfires, certainly made the news. There were also floods, severe storms and earthquakes. Then there were the disasters which were man made, the war in Ukraine, which marked its first year last February, and the attack on Israel in October, followed by the latter's retaliation. Kings were crowned (Charles III) and Rishi Sunak, whilst other kings found themselves in court (DJT of MAGA fame). Covid went from being a pandemic to being endemic (though this issue isn't settled yet). effectively de-throned, whilst the film 'Barbie' was a hit, as was Taylor Swift in the music scene.    Tonight, or tomorrow early hours, is the last full moon of 2023. The Moon in Cancer is opposite the Sun in Capricorn at almost 5 degrees. The Moon will be high in the sky, so should be quite visible; exact time of said Full Moon is 01:33.  Full Moons are a time ...

Taurus New Moon, Jupiter in Taurus, Hathor and Algol

Image
This evening, just before sunset, the Sun and Moon conjoined at what is called a New Moon. This New Moon at 28 degrees of Taurus is ruled over by the planet Venus, as it rules Taurus. New Moons in Taurus are about setting intentions concerning our values, or what we value in life. Hathor Let's talk about Venus. At the moment of the New Moon, Venus will occupy 13 degrees of Cancer, a position held by the fixed star Sirius. Anyone who is into the cosmology of Ancient Egypt would instantly associated Taurus with the goddess Hathor. which is why she is represented as having dual horns in her headdress. As a giver of life, she carries the ankh in her left hand. She was the mother of Horus and the sun god Ra, associated with kingship, thus taking on the role of mother of their earthly representatives, the pharoahs.  There we go - the topic of kings comes up again. So do the stars look down favourably upon us lesser mortals? This is a Taurus New Moon with Cancer connections, so thi...

Full Moon with Algol 19th November 2021

Image
If there is a Full Moon that is interesting any astrologer this year, it is this one. Why? Because it is also a lunar eclipse. A lunar eclipse occur when the Sun obscures the Moon, as opposed to a solar eclipse, when it is the Moon that hides the Sun. All astrologers’ eyes are on this eclipse this year. That, and the solar eclipse that follows fourteen days later. Much has been said about the effects of this pair of eclipses (they usually come in twos) on the world stage. When looking for clues as to how this may be played out, we must make the distinction between a solar and a lunar eclipse. Solar eclipses are usually seen as the more powerful, whereas the data on lunar eclipses are seen to bear some weight in other instances. What is most interesting is that in the chart of the lunar eclipse, the Moon’s position is conjunct (in line with/occupies the same portion of sky) as Algol (see my blog entry no.4). Algol is tied in with the myth of Medusa, who was a temple p...

The Moon, Algol and Jupiter are hanging out together today....

Image
I read something interesting today, on Smiljana Gavroncic’s FaceBook page. Smiljana is an amazing astrologer from Serbia whose work is very interesting because she collects details and puts all the threads together to weave a narrative explaining how the stars affect us humans. As above so below. Very simply put, she wrote that today, Sunday 29 th August 2021, the Moon will occupy a degree in the zodiac which is also shared by the fixed star Algol. This star is found in the constellation Perseus and has been recognised to be the most malevolent fixed star out there. Today, the Moon and Algol form a challenging angle of 90 ° to the planet Jupiter. Why is this significant? Well, to begin with, astrology is about finding patterns. When two points in the sky form an aspect (usually angles of 90 ° - a square, 180 ° - an opposition, or even 0 ° - a conjunction where they occupy the same portion of sky in the zodiac) this is something we should pay attention to. So let’s break ...
