New Moon in Leo.... and more (read on).
Are you feeling the heat? Astrologically, a new moon is all about implementing new plans, bringing others to a close and setting new intentions. Although this is stated in each of the blog posts, they are not the same for each new moon in a year. A new moon in Cancer is not the same as a new moon in Pisces, though theoretically they are both water signs. What you may find is that if you keep a personal journal, during the Leo New Moons period the same issues generally tend to crop up. Of course, the planets are in different positions at any given new moon, when a seed is sown. Ask your gardener whether they would sow any seeds after the full moon...
This month's new moon is in the fiery sign of Leo and occurs at around 13:30 on the 4th August. As such, a new moon in Leo focuses on the issue of creativity, as Leo is a sign associated with the heart and putting our ideas/creations out there into manifestation, and also being recognised for our works of art, be they ideas, or children.
Back to the sky....Let's look at the story the sky is offering us at this Leo new moon cycle. Leo is a regal sign; Leo is king. What is a king, anyway, if not about power? Thus, it is all about recognising our own power, which we gain by others recognising one's kingship. This zodiac sign offers us the opportunity to recognise ourselves as being the 'king' in us, that we are unique individuals with the power to recognise our own unique-ness. It is about courage and strength - the courage to be ourselves and the strength to be a 'heart warrior'. Anyone acquainted with English history will have heard of Richard the Lionheart who earned that nickname because of his prowess as a military leader.
Let's have a look at three planets at the anaretic degree - 29 degrees of any sign. When any planet transits the 29th degree, it is about to change sign. This is usually understood by astrologers that it has acquired and experience all the lessons of the zodiac sign and is about to change sign. This, therefore is a critical degree and signals critical change.Venus, Neptune and Pluto are all at the anaretic degree in a configuration known as 'the finger of fate/a yod'. This might bring into question the notion of fate versus free will, an issue hinted at in Shakespeare's tragedies, and also other works (if you ever had the fortune to study Thomas Hardy's 'Mayor of Casterbridge you will get this). We have been taught that wo/man has free will, so make of it what you will. Venus in Leo at 29 degrees, the same degree as the fixed star Regulus (the heart of the Lion) and almost opposite (inconjunct - an aspect denoting restlessness and discomfort) Pluto and also Neptune. Pluto demands total transformation whilst Neptune represents the ethereal, the illusion and also the dissolution of matter. Put it all together and we have a new moon cycle with more than a hint of non-ease. Venus, however, is on Regulus, which, in fixed start astrology offers the opportunity for 'success if revenge is avoided'. This is quite intense as Venus represents how we relate to others and our values.
Another theme in the new moon chart is that of Jupiter about to reach a 90 degree aspect with Saturn. Let's unwrap this.
Jupiter is in Gemini (ruled by Mercury which is about to go retrograde). Saturn is in Pisces (ruled by Jupiter). Remember that each zodiac sign has its natural rulers which can influence the visitors to the sign (in the same way people visit your domain). Saturn is in Jupiter's domain and Jupiter is in Mercury's domain. Saturn will form a 90 degree (a challenge) with Jupiter on the 19th August (the day of the Full Moon in Leo). Think of Saturn as the 'taskmaster' and Jupiter as 'Santa Clause'. This is all about balancing the need for growth with the need for responsibility.
Mercury is associated with communication - speech, books, trips and also
technological communication. According to a well-established astrologer - Penny Thornton - and these are her thoughts (ethically correct to name the source (https://youtu.be/mN_BkWC6lj0?si=X6OGvBeK86pRvAB3) - Mercury will retrograde (appear to go backwards) to 26 degrees of Leo just after the middle of August, where it will be 90 degrees (challenge) to Uranus. Last month, the global Crowdstrike outage occurred during this aspect. Will it happen again - most likely not as lightning does not strike in the same place twice, though it will be interesting to watch.
What you can see here is two charts put together to see if there are any meeting points. The chart at the centre is the Malta chart. There are three meeting points worth looking at, the first being that this New Moon in Leo is smack on Malta's Venus. A while ago I did some work on whether there was any correlation between the planetary positions in the charts of Malta's Prime Ministers since Independence and found that they all had a planet with an aspect to Venus in the Malta chart. So.... will this month's new moon exert some kind of strong pressure on our PM?
Secondly, the moon in a country's chart represents the people. The Malta moon is in Pisces, which is ruled over by Venus (or Neptune in modern astrology). Saturn is in the same portion of sky as the Moon in Malta's natal chart (21/09/1964). Saturn represents becoming responsible, judgement. What will the people be asked to judge? Wait and see - they sky offers us the script, we decided how it gets to be played out.
....and then there is Uranus transiting Malta's Jupiter, both at 26 degrees of Taurus, where Algol lies. On the 19th August, the Leo Full Moon will highlight this degree, the 26th degree of Taurus, where Malta's Jupiter lies. Again... wait and see.Back to our own personal story: This Leo New Moon offers us the opportunity for embracing change (Finger of Fate) and confront our personal challenges (anaretic degree). Set your intentions and be guided to do that which brings you joy (Leo New Moon) without harm to others (Saturn/Jupiter).
I hope you enjoyed reading this.
Blessings,
Cindy
