Uranus changes sign!

Image
The cosmos is stirring up a storm - yes, a storm - as the planet associated with rebellion and innovation changes sign from Taurus to Gemini. Yesterday, 7th July, we bid goodbye to the presence of Uranus in grounded Taurus and witnessed its entry into the communicative Gemini, where it will reside for the next 7 years. Uranus orbits once around the Sun every 84 years, which roughly means that at around that age, you may witness a Uranus return to its natal position in your chart. But what does all this herald?  Uranus is what is called 'an outer planet', meaning that it is one of the planets which lies outside of Saturn's orbit. Until the late 1700s, there were only seven planets known to mankind. With the discovery of Uranus in 1781, astrologers began to attribute certain traits to the planet. It was a time of revolution, new ideas, freedom and individuality. Let's not forget the Declaration of Independence of 1776, and the French Revolution of 1789. Even our tiny is...

A little thing to ponder on....the nature of kingship

Image
If you've been feeling something is in the air tonight (with apologies to Phil Collins), you are probably right. Over the past two weeks, we have had very significant changes in our sky stories. This, coupled with the Full Moon on the 11th June, made it all very interesting and it all has to do with Jupiter and Saturn. Firstly, gone are the days of Saturn (discipline) in Pisces (spirituality). On the 24/25th May, Saturn changed sign and moved into Aries from the watery sign of the fish. Now, that energy will want to be expressed differently. No more building of inner boundaries.  In astrology, Saturn represents discipline, structure, responsibility, and karmic lessons. It governs time, maturity, and the development of wisdom through challenges. Aries, on the other hand, is the fiery, impulsive warrior of the zodiac—bold, independent, and quick to act. When Saturn finds itself in Aries, we encounter a paradox: the planet of patience and caution colliding with the sign of raw energy ...

New Moon in Leo.... and more (read on).

Image
Are you feeling the heat? Astrologically, a new moon is all about implementing new plans, bringing others to a close and setting new intentions. Although this is stated in each of the blog posts, they are not the same for each new moon in a year. A new moon in Cancer is not the same as a new moon in Pisces, though theoretically they are both water signs. What you may find is that if you keep a personal journal, during the Leo New Moons period the same issues generally tend to crop up. Of course, the planets are in different positions at any given new moon, when a seed is sown. Ask your gardener whether they would sow any seeds after the full moon...  This month's new moon  is in the fiery sign of Leo and occurs at around 13:30 on the 4th August. As such, a new moon in Leo focuses on the issue of creativity, as Leo is a sign associated with the heart and putting our ideas/creations out there into manifestation, and also being recognised for our works of art, be they idea...

Capricorn Full Moon and Everything else!!

Image
On July 21, 2024, at 12:17 CEDT, the Moon reaches its full illumination in the sign of Capricorn. This event marks the second Capricorn Full Moon of the summer, with the first one occurring on the 21 st June. There are key themes associated with Full Moon. First, lets have a look at the diagram for a visual. This chart is particular to Malta at the time of the Full Moon.  So - there's a Full Moon at 29 degrees of Capricorn (with the Sun at 29 degrees in Cancer). The Sun is about to change sign, and this is precisely the energy of this lunar event. This is what astrologers call the anaretic degree and it suggests that something is about to change. Having acquired all the knowledge and wisdom acquired from the Cancerian journey, we are now ready to jump into a new reality. That's the gist of it.  But wait! That Pluto is sitting on the Full Moon! Gosh - Pluto demands nothing less than transmutation and transformation. It does nothing by halves.  Neptune, the planet...

Taurus New Moon and Venus as Lucifer the Morning Star

Image
A New Moon in Taurus graces our skies early morning on the 8th May 2024.  The New Moon always speaks of the end of one lunar cycle and the opportunity to work with a new 'story board', so to speak. Taurus is always about stability; it is a fixed sign and also an earth sign. It is about maintaining the status quo. A New Moon in Taurus asks us to sit down and become aware of the resources we have or perhaps need in order to grow. Set your intentions in preparation for the Full Moon later on in the month.  So let's see what story the sky is offering us. The New Moon in Taurus is accompanied by two planets, Uranus and Jupiter. These two planets accompany what we call the two 'lights' (Sun and Moon) and offer us the opportunity to 'break the mould' or perhaps do things differently (for a less dramatic expression) and also cautiously (Taurus likes stability). Taurus represents that which we attach value to. But there's more. Taurus is ruled over by Venus and...

Full Moon in Gemini and other things....

Image
As promised, in this post I am going to include the information from the New Moon which occurred on the 13th November. In my apologia last week, I mentioned that the New Moon in Scorpio was quite a sizzler, and the reason for that was that together with the Sun and Moon, was a spectacular Mars opposite Uranus aspect. I also mentioned that I connected it to volcanic activity in Iceland. I don't think that volcano has erupted yet but it has kept everyone there on full red alert. Similarly the Middle East, which is so delicate and complex a topic that to analyse it from an astrological perspective would require deep study; that's for another time, perhaps. What I would like to mention is that this New Moon occurred a day before King Charles' birthday, which means that his Solar Return chart for the coming year would have contained that very energized Mars/Uranus opposition.  Briefly explained, a solar return chart is something astrologers use to predict the year ahead for th...

Full Moon in Leo, Uranus, Pluto and the two Princes

Image
Good morning, all! We have a Full Moon in the sky occurring at 16 degrees of Leo at 7:28pm this evening. High in the sky we can see Mars, which is currently transiting the sign of Gemini. The real star of the show, however, is Uranus, an outer planet (outside of Saturn). Uranus is currently in the astrological sign of Taurus, where it has been since the 15th of May 2018. This planet takes 84 years to orbit the Sun and where it falls in your birth chart really tells us about generational influences. If it aspects another planet in your chart (Sun, Moon, Mercury to Saturn), then there is a story of how you do things differently.   Uranus was in the same position as today 84 years ago - in 1939. Well, we know what happened in THAT year! This does not mean that we will undergo the same types of events, far from that. What IS interesting is that at 15 degrees, it is aligned with the star Menkar, a star  in the mouth of Cetus the whale, linked with the power of the colle...

Full Moon in Aquarius.... and the last supermoon for 2022

Image
Good morning, y'all.... there's a full moon out there. This full moon lies at 19 degrees of Aquarius (remember, a full moon is visible because it is opposite the Sun) and is also a supermoon. When the Moon is full and closest to Earth, it appears bigger and brighter. Remember, the Moon does not emit light, but reflects the light of the Sun.  The position of the Moon in a person's birth chart reveals a lot about the emotional make-up of the native (of the chart). Whereas the Sun in the chart tells us about the path of the native to encompass his solar personality, the Moon talks of how the person could possibly respond emotionally to life's situations. Remember, it is not only the zodiac sign the Moon is in, but also its placement in the chart and the aspects other planets or points make to it. Just saying 'Oh, I've got a Leo Moon' simply doesn't cut it. There's much more to it that that, though it does reveal a little bit (Leo Moons children are ma...

Full Moon in Capricorn and The Gateway of the Gods

Image
Apologies for this late entry - what I thought was going to be a long, lazy summer has been anything but. Here's my take on things, nevertheless. The Full Moon in Capricorn occurred yesterday evening at approximately 19:37 local time. The Sun is currently transiting the last decan of Cancer and therefore the Moon would be directly opposite at 21 degrees of Capricorn.  Astrology deals with polarities, meaning that opposite signs lie across an axis, for example Leo/Aquarius, Aries/Libra and so forth. The Cancer/Capricorn axis has frequently been called 'The Gateway to the Gods', possibly because they were linked to the solstices. There is a lot of ancient literature concerning this subject which is quite fascinating. The Ancient Egyptians equated the zodiac sign of Cancer with souls descending to Earth because the Sun, at that time of the year, has the longest elevation in the sky, and therefore was seen as being closer to heaven. Conversely, during the winter solstice, dur...
