Full Moon in Aquarius.... and the last supermoon for 2022

Good morning, y'all.... there's a full moon out there. This full moon lies at 19 degrees of Aquarius (remember, a full moon is visible because it is opposite the Sun) and is also a supermoon. When the Moon is full and closest to Earth, it appears bigger and brighter. Remember, the Moon does not emit light, but reflects the light of the Sun.

The position of the Moon in a person's birth chart reveals a lot about the emotional make-up of the native (of the chart). Whereas the Sun in the chart tells us about the path of the native to encompass his solar personality, the Moon talks of how the person could possibly respond emotionally to life's situations. Remember, it is not only the zodiac sign the Moon is in, but also its placement in the chart and the aspects other planets or points make to it. Just saying 'Oh, I've got a Leo Moon' simply doesn't cut it. There's much more to it that that, though it does reveal a little bit (Leo Moons children are mama's pride and joy, amongst other things).

Let's look at the birth chart of Marie Antoinette. The glyph for the Moon in the chart is easy to spot. It's in the lower portion of the chart, in the 4th house (count from the left side, where the 'AS' - Ascendant - lies). So Marie Antoinette's natal Moon is in the 4th house, the area of the chart associated with issues to do with 'home', or 'the clan'. Her natal Moon is in the zodiac sign of Libra, which means that she is emotionally motivated by her active seeking of harmony and beauty. Who hasn't heard of her 'garden' at Versailles? The Queen's Grove, something she designed with her horticultural advisors, was a revolutionary concept at the time (a time of revolution, indeed), moving away from the traditional structured/landscaped vibe of the times. It was a nod to the zeitgeist of the time, to the philosophy of Rousseau and the natural relationship between man and nature. Marie Antoinette's natal Moon makes aspects to other planets, and therefore this tempers the expression of a Libra Moon. If you look at the chart, Mars forms a ninety degree angle to the Moon, as does Saturn from the other side of the chart. Mars is in Cancer, which means it is ruled by the Moon, telling us that Marie Antoinette liked to get her own way. Saturn also makes an aspect to Mars and that tells us that there must have been a strict authority figure in her childhood who kept her in line.

As she grew older, she grew into her Scorpio Sun sign. This is an intensely emotional sign. and is placed in the 5th house, where she channelled her energy into her creative pursuits. 'Madame Deficit', as she was called, loved to spend money (Neptune in the 2ne house - unrealistic with resources). Her Neptune/Venus aspect further emphasises her idealistic and unrealistic perspective of relationships, though it did probably give her the impetus to 'create' an incredibly beautiful garden for her children to take lessons in (5th house - children).  (See picture: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q2280455)

Given the right conditions, she may have been able to express her 'revolutionary' spirit. Uranus (the rebel) is conjunct the South Node (one's path in life), and its position in the 9th house of higher education, law, travel, should have made her a good candidate for entertaining revolutionary ideas. Furthermore, the fixed star Denebola (the tail of the Lion) sits close to a point in the chart signifying what she aspired to achieve in life; to go against society, to do away with things no longer useful.

Marie Antoinette's chart is full of signs of an extremely affectionate, loving and childish person. She knew nothing of the world of the common man, though as far as 18th Century royal protocol is concerned, she fulfulled her duty as Queen of France by providing a son to take over the throne, of which she had two. Tragically, one son died of tuberculosis a month before the outbreak of the French Revolution (progressed Sun conj. Pluto), a sure sign of further heartbreak ahead. Marie Antoinette was executed on the 16th October 1793, a few weeks short of her 38th birthday. We are left with her beautiful garden, which was restored a few years ago. It is always interesting to look at royal personages' charts. Luckily for us, their birth time would be faithfully recorded and charts analysed. When Prince Harry of Wales was born, some astrologers noted some similarities between his birth chart and that of the Duke of Windsor, ex-King Edward the VIIIth. How is that possible, they asked? How can one abdicate if one is not the king? Well, he has done that, in a way. By the way, Harry's Moon sign is Taurus, but that's for another day.

So today's Full Moon is in Aquarius, conjunct Saturn (which rules Aquarius traditionally) and squares Uranus, the latter planet associated with both the French and American Revolution (hence the link to Marie Antoinette). Saturn in Aquarius is about new ideas and Uranus in Taurus is about setting new values; thus, the theme appears to be renewal.

Look back to the New Moon in Leo of the 28th - remember the Lionesses? The Full Moon throws light on what was seeded at the New Moon. If you find stumbling blocks to achieve your goal, stay the course; perseverance is what you need - avail yourself of that Saturn/Uranus energy.

I hope you enjoyed reading this.

Blessings,

Cindy
