The Dance of the Lights and Planets at the Sag New Moon

Image
Welcome to the New Moon in Sagittarius happening on Sunday, 1st December at 7:21am. Sagittarius, the ninth sign of the zodiac, is symbolised by the Archer, representing a quest for knowledge and adventure. Born between November 22 and December 21, Sagittarians are known for their optimism, independence, and love for exploration. They are ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion and growth, which fuels their desire for new experiences and philosophical pursuits. Sagittarians are often seen as enthusiastic, open-minded, and honest, sometimes to a fault. They thrive on freedom and are always ready for the next big adventure, making them natural travelers and lifelong learners. Their infectious energy and zest for life inspire those around them.  Sag is always fun after the deep emotional angst of Scorpio, right? After going through the Scorpio experience (remember that Scorpio is a fixed water sign), the Sag experience is one of mutable fire - ready to change and driven b...

The Full Moon in May and Medusa

Image
Welcome to the Full Moon in Sagittarius or the May Full Moon. May is such a pretty month in our Maltese calendar - not too hot, not too chilly (but also a little too 'sandy': the air is full of Saharan sand when the wind blows from the south).... in other words, just right.  The Full Moon in Sag is a culmination of all that which was sown at the New Moon at 18 degrees of Taurus. In the May 8th New Moon chart, Jupiter was at the crucial degree of Algol, the most malefic star in the heavens - that of around 25 degrees of Taurus, which is where Malta's natal Jupiter lies. The star Algol is also known as the Medusa's head - and oh my, Jupiter (the Law Courts) has had a few heads rolling, though the story is not yet complete. Truth be told, 'as above, so below'; watching other news channels reveals that this is happening everywhere else in the world. Our island no different.  So - what's the story for this Full Moon? Well - it's exam season isn't it? We...

New Moon in Sagittarius - dare to dream!

Image
This year's New Moon in Sagittarius occurs on the 13th December at 00:32, and because it is a new moon, it is travelling with the sun. If you look at the chart, the moment of the New Moon occurs some time during the night, shortly after midnight. New Moons are all about setting intentions, and this particular new moon is no different. If we go by the calendar month, then this new moon is the last one for 2023, so go ahead, think about what you want to sent in motion and what you want to cast aside. This is a new moon in Sagittarius, so think outside the box and ask yourself what you would like to prioritise over the next month. Let's also have a look at the story the sky is offering us.  Although there is nothing in the sky which is as dramatic as of late, you might notice that Mercury has an 'S' near it. This means that it is 'stationing', meaning that it is about to change direction. From the point of view from Earth, Mercury is about to start its retrograde...

Full Moon in Sagittarius and the Phoenix

Image
A Full Moon graces the skies in the early hours of Sunday 4th June at 5:41am. This occurs just before sunrise, and sets the tone for the next two weeks. Full Moons are usually seen as a time when the intentions set at the Full Moon bloom.  A Full Moon is, as another astrologer, Jessica Adams, put it, a full stop. it is time to stop and look back. This is the reason why new seeds are never sown at full moon time, but at new moon. Traditionally, astrologers never advised new plans to be implemented at that time.  A Full Moon in Sagittarius receives light from the Sun in Gemini, the zodiac sign associated with all forms of communication and also with siblings and short journeys. If you look at the chart for this Full Moon, you can see that the Sun was rising, making this chart ruled over by Mercury (which rules Gemini). Mercury is currently in Taurus and one degree away from Uranus, the planet representing innovation, eccentricity, revolution and inspirational thinking. Me...

Full Moon in Sagittarius and a Supermoon!

Image
Good morning peeps, we have a Full Moon tomorrow the 14th June at 13:51. Full moons are always on the opposite side of the sun, so today's Full Moon is in Gemini at 23 degrees.  Full moons are the culmination of patterns set at the New Moon (I know, I use capitalisation haphazardly), so in a sense we come to a sort of 'enlightenment' at the Full Moon - the light of the Full Moon allows us to have a glimpse at what needs highlighting.  Sagittarius moons are all about how we respond emotionally to life's issues. This is a fire sign, so we respond creatively. How do we respond? This is not a water sign so no sulking somewhere till we wreak havoc, no, Sagittarius responds by trying to look at the bigger picture, by moving away, travelling or focusing on something else.  The other things going on in this Full Moon chart is Mercury's entry into Gemini, the sign it rules (as well as Virgo, where Mercury operates differently, as an analytic factor). Venus, in its own sign...

New Moon in Sagittarius - and a solar eclipse!

Image
There’s so much to say I honestly don’t know where to start. Firstly, you are probably aware of the two twinkling things in the sky (that’s Jupiter and Saturn). [i] Directly beneath, is the planet Venus (see photo: taken from Venus has been one to watch over the past few months. She seemed to be getting brighter and on the 3 rd December will reach maximum brilliance. [ii] This is something that the ancients would have noticed, especially around an eclipse, so let’s turn this into a story. The Sun, who represents the king in the sky narrative, is travelling through the sign of the centaur. (The story of Chiron is quite interesting, as it speaks of a half man, half horse who sacrificed himself to release Prometheus from his chains.) Sagittarius follows the sign of Scorpio, a sign associated with death and transmutation, so in this sign, perspectives are broadened and you are challenged to widen your horizons. This sign is ruled by Jupiter and in this sign has asso...
