New Moon in Sagittarius - and a solar eclipse!
There’s so much to say I honestly don’t know where to start. Firstly, you are probably aware of the two twinkling things in the sky (that’s Jupiter and Saturn).[i] Directly beneath, is the planet Venus (see photo: taken from
Venus has been one to watch over the past
few months. She seemed to be getting brighter and on the 3rd
December will reach maximum brilliance.[ii] This
is something that the ancients would have noticed, especially around an eclipse,
so let’s turn this into a story.
The Sun, who represents the king in the sky narrative, is travelling through the sign of the centaur. (The story of Chiron is quite interesting, as it speaks of a half man, half horse who sacrificed himself to release Prometheus from his chains.) Sagittarius follows the sign of Scorpio, a sign associated with death and transmutation, so in this sign, perspectives are broadened and you are challenged to widen your horizons. This sign is ruled by Jupiter and in this sign has associations with travels, philosophy, books, the Law and publishing. All these have to do with higher learning. The king, here, is a learned yet wounded person, and will be occulted for a short while by the Moon, an event which ancients feared (mostly for the wellbeing of their ruler).
This heavenly procession is led by Mars the
Warrior, who, in Scorpio, is in its own sign. When the warrior leads from the
front, one might say that s/he is either on the attack, or there to defend the
king from any possible danger. This planet squares (that’s ninety degrees and
is called a ‘hard aspect’) Jupiter at 25°Aquarius. Aquarius
is always going to be about out-of-the-box ideas, and Jupiter’s presence here
amplifies this in a positive way. So here, Mars, who is determined to get to
the truth (Scorpio) is challenged to think outside the box. What truth, might
you add? Let’s add to this story.
My eyes have been glued to the movement of Venus over the
past few months, as you probably realised. If you look at the first picture above, you’ll see that three
planets dominate the sky: Jupiter, Saturn and Venus. (Saturn is in its own sign
in Aquarius, telling us to be responsible for all the ideas and discoveries
that we make. It also carries a very social energy, indicating that taking responsibility for how we handle ourselves in connection with others is high on the agenda both locally and internationally.)
On the 19th December, Venus will appear to stop moving forwards; this is called stationing. Following this, she will begin her retrograde motion (a kind of a moonwalk, appearing to be moving backwards) when she is at 26° Capricorn, which is where Pluto is in the sky. So let’s add this to the sky story: The wounded king is hidden (eclipse – which could mean endangered) as Mars the Warrior tries to do damage control about some outside of the norm situation arises.
Venus, who represents the way we conduct relationships takes a step back to reconsider past patterns after having come into contact with Pluto. Something life-changing occurred to her there. Passion was involved, so this hit her deeply. Venus will disappear from the evening sky on the 2nd January 2022, to reappear as a morning star on the 14th January 2022 at 15° Capricorn, thus beginning a new cycle.
So
what’s the story? Old cycles are ending, new ones see the new dawn. The story
the sky is offering is that of stepping back to find our own truth. It is an
offer to be more authentic.
I hope you enjoyed this – give it a thumbs
up if you did!
Blessings to all,
Cindy
PS
It might interest you to know that a Grandmaster of the Order of the Knights of St.John of Jerusalem was laid to rest in the Co-Cathedral of St.John's, Valletta, today 3rd December. The last time a grandmaster was laid to rest there was 246 years ago. This, on the eve of a solar eclipse: interesting, don't you think?
