Full Moon in Scorpio
Looking at the chart for the Full Moon, Mars, the natural ruler of Scorpio, lay at the highest point in the chart at 11 degrees of Leo. Mars represents the warrior energy in a chart, what motivates you to get out of bed in the morning, and in this Full Moon chart it may well symbolise the gift of the skies this lunar cycle - the energy to pursue what we need to be our authentic selves with others.
So what was the sky story on the 12th May? Let's have a quick look. The diagram shows a number of connections between the planets. The Full Moon was heavily influence by the Sun-Uranus opposition to that full moon, suggesting something sudden and unusual happening around that time. We do know that a new pope was elected in what was considered to be an unusual choice. Mercury and Pluto were in a square - 90 degrees - which tells us that the decision was an insightful one, a deep (Pluto) and transformational one. We also had a Venus/Neptune conjunction which had just occurred. If you think about Neptune, and how Venus had passed over it a few days prior to the full moon, then Venus 'carries' some of that Neptunian (illusion, spirituality) energy as it travels through the sign of Aries, the sign of new beginnings. Mars rules Aries, and with it's position in Leo it may speak of the notion of 'kingship'; a new warrior (pontiff - and he took the name of Leo - ha! Mars in Leo, anyone?) takes prime position (on the midheaven). Mars is connected to these two planets as it is 120 degrees away, a harmonious aspect.
Then we have a Jupiter/Saturn configuration which is quite telling. Jupiter is in Gemini, opposite the sign it rules (Sagittarius) and therefore is what is called 'in detriment'. It works on behalf of others. Saturn is in Pisces and again, it has no special dignity. What is interesting is that Saturn is about structure and in the sign of Pisces (otherworldliness) is pretty much about finding stability in a sea of dreams.
So, on the whole, this Full Moon seems to want to talk about highlighting (full moon - full of light...but it is the light of the Sun being reflected) the need to be mindful of who we are (Mars in Leo) in a spiritual sense. Let's face it, we live in changing times and we could feel 'lost' in a world which is different every day.
So take time out from the frenzy and anchor yourself. Who are you and what is your mission here? Be the king (Mars in Leo) of your realm, ready to rely on your intuition (Mercury/Pluto) to navigate the changing waters (Pisces overtone to the chart) of this illusion called life. True to form, this was a Scorpio Full Moon - full of intensity and intrigue. But we made it!
Apologies again for it being late...
I hope you enjoyed reading this.
Blessings,
Cindy
