Full Moon 22nd August 2021
A full moon
will occur on the 22nd August 2021 at 14:01 local Malta time. A full
moon occurs when the sun and moon are on opposite sides of the Earth resulting
in an illuminated moon.
This is
quite a special Full Moon as it is the second Full Moon during the zodiac month
of Leo (23rd July – 23rd August), making it a ‘Blue Moon’
in Leo (though technically the Moon is passing through the sign of Aquarius). The first Full Moon occurred on the 24th July at 1°Aquarius and was marked by a conjunction
with Saturn (conjunction – when two planets line up in the zodiac) giving it a
somewhat restrictive vibe. Traditionally, Saturn is known as the taskmaster, that
which makes us take responsibility for what we engage in or with. In other
words, you have to work hard to gain authority in that area. Saturn rules two
zodiac signs, Capricorn and Aquarius, although Uranus, discovered in 1781, has
been ascribed to Aquarius.
The Full
Moon on the 22nd has a
totally different vibe to the Full Moon which occurred on the 24th
July as it is conjunct the ever jovial and expansive Jupiter. Both the Moon and
Jupiter (whom some call the ‘Santa Clause’ planet as he is a benefic) at 29°Aquarius. The rising
sign for exact moment of the Full Moon is Sagittarius, which makes Jupiter
(which rules Sag) the ruler of the chart. Having Jupiter and the Full Moon on
the 29th degree of any sign is quite ominous, as most astrologers
will tell you that the 29th degree talks of imminent change. As Jupiter
is a benefic, the change may not be so bad at all.
Also very prominent in this chart is the 29th
degree of Leo, the degree the Sun occupies in this Full Moon chart. It is the
last degree in the zodiac sign of Leo. This degree is where Regulus, the alpha
star in the constellation Leo, lines up with the Sun, which does throw some emphasis
on this Full Moon event. Why? Because Regulus is one of the four Royal Stars of
Persia.
Traditionally, Regulus is associated with kingship. The
name Regulus comes from Latin and means ‘little king’. It is one of Royal Stars
of Persia and is one of the four watchers of the heavens, marking the summer
solstice in times gone by. The myth of Regulus is that it confers great success
but only if the temptation to seek revenge is resisted. So what does this
particular Full Moon mean for us mere mortals?
Think back to August 2002. The Moon has a 19-year
cycle, which means that at that time, the Full Moon fell on the same degree -
29° of Aquarius. Did you make any significant changes to
your life during that period? Depending on where this Full Moon falls in your
chart, something is bound to change. Your horizons should widen, opportunities
might present themselves which you may only have dreamt of before.
Putting all this together, ask yourself what your
dreams are. Are you true to your heart? Full Moons speak of culminations and if
you have been working towards something wholesome, this Full Moon should send
something beneficial your way!
Happy Full Moon!
