Cancer New Moon, the Knights and Venus

On the 17th July, just after sunset, we have a New Moon in Cancer at 25 degrees. This New Moon brings with it the vibe of Leo as Venus, as an evening star, lies at the heart of the Lion, traditionally held to be at 28 degrees Leo conjunct Regulus, also known as Cor Leonis. Of course, with precession ( a process whereby the position of the stars and constellations gradually move in relation to the seasons), fixed stars have moved a little. Nevertheless, Regulus, one of the four 'Royal Stars', marked the summer solstice by the Persians in 3000BC, and was known as the 'Watcher of the North'. The other three royal stars are Antares, Fomalhaut and Aldebaran.

So what does this New Moon portend? Well, a new moon is always about setting new intentions. Cancer is ruled by the Moon. It is during the Cancer season that we experience the solstice, when the Sun reaches its highest declination and begins its 'travel' south (of course the Sun does not move...we know that). The Moon itself is out-of-bounds (beyond the 23*15 north or south, but in our case north, boundary) at this time and has something of a 'wild' card' characteristic. As the moon rules water, emotions could run riot. Also, Venus transiting the 28 Leo point will tug at your heart strings and perhaps expressing one's creativity would be at the forefront of one's mind. Do be aware, however, that there is a Mars/Saturn opposition; Mars is in Virgo (eco-warrior energy) opposing Saturn in Pisces (rules, responsibility and mature growth). This translates as balancing the need to use one's energy to make the environment healthier and learning how to take responsibility for your own spiritual growth.

We also need to look at Pluto's backwards journey. In this New Moon chart, the planet of death and transformation opposes the Sun/Moon. Pluto has moved back into Capricorn from Aquarius; old issues may arise for us to have a second look at before it finally transits into Aquarius sometime in 2024. The role of Pluto in Capricorn is to break down boundaries, and since its entry into Capricorn in 2008 (remember the fiscal crash?) many structures regarding the business world have changed. Its previous transit into Aquarius, 248 years ago, was in 1798, and before that, in 1532. (What are your boundaries that need renewing?)

If you know your Maltese history, these periods were very important to our islands; the first signalled the beginning of the Knights Hospitaller's rule, the second, the Knights being forced to leave the islands when the French took over the islands. So, what does this entry into Aqua signal? (link to a previous blog entry about the knights here:https://sisistars.blogspot.com/2021/12/pluto-offers-up-grandmaster.html ) highlight and right click. )  Time will tell. The stars have their own rhyme and reason. One thing we do know is that Pluto breaks down structures that need breaking down.

So, the New Moon is about laying down our seeds. Set your intentions, check your motivations for setting these objectives and balance your needs with those of others. Above all, remember that our time here is transitory. Our islands are a sacred place (whichever level you wish to understand that statement on). Let's leave a healthier and better place for those who will call us ancestors.

I hope you enjoyed reading this.

Blessings,

Cindy
