Full Moon in Pisces, a new Crown Prince and a lunar eclipse

Today's Full Moon is a total lunar eclipse, though not totally visible from here. In Malta, Moonrise is at sunset - obviously - the Moon is opposite the Sun, so be sure to look at the horizon and enjoy the spectacle.

A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Moon and the Sun, casting a shadow on the Moon.  Due to atmospherics, the Moon will appear reddish in colour, which is why they call it a 'blood moon'.

Astrologically, this 'blood moon' is quite powerful, and although lunar eclipses are not interpreted in quite the same way as solar eclipses, they still speak to us about our instincts and emotions.

Let's have a look at what story the sky is offering us.

Firstly, any Full Moon is the culmination of the intentions set at the New Moon. A full moon throws reflected light to Earth, so similarly full moons heighten emotions and instincts, allowing us to review our reactions and feelings to issues close to our hearts. But this is also a lunar eclipse, which elevates our emotional responses.

The Uranus-Neptune-Pluto party is still ongoing, allowing us to let go of our baggage and create new possible realities. The only difference between this aspect and that of two weeks ago is that Saturn has retrograded into Pisces, a sign associated with letting go of the ego and providing structure to a spiritual cause.

Jupiter rules Pisces (traditionally), and in Cancer pours a 'motherly' energy into this Full Moon. But here's the thing: it receives a square (challenge) from Mars in Libra. Most of us know Libra is a sign associated with harmony. However, it is also a cardinal sign, so although Mars is in this 'harmonious' sign, it is also opposite to the one it rules (detriment) and it will take action. How? Will it act harmoniously? Not really. In fact, you may feel challenged to speak up about issues close to you and do it in a big, loud way (Jupiter). Don't shoot your mouth off. Step back and choose your words wisely.

Mention must be made of Venus' aspect to the Moon as they do happen to have landed on the same degree of a sign. Venus forms an angle of 150 degrees, which is not quite a conjunction. It is what is called 'inconjunct, and although it is a minor aspect, it can be a bit of a 'stirring spoon'. A drama queen.

So the whole vibe of this lunar eclipse is heightened emotions, drama, words flying and also the opportunity to build anew. Interesting local news is that one of the two major political parties has a new leader installed. The sky story fits the local story perfectly. The new leader's chart shows that the Jupiter (also considered to be the 'crown prince' in charts of Babylonian astrology) is conjunct this new leader's natal Sun. To be elected on the day of a lunar eclipse is something to ponder (King Charles III was also crowned close to a lunar eclipse). There is an element of fate here, surely.

I hope you enjoyed reading this. Remember to get out this evening and watch moonrise!

Blessings,

Cindy
