Saturn-Day

I am sure that many of my readers will know that the names of the days of the week, in many languages, have been derived from the names of the gods from Hellenistic astronomy.

Monday, for example, was named after the moon - Moon Day. Tuesday is named after Mars, Wednesday after Mercury, Thursday after Jupiter, Friday after Venus, Saturday after Saturn, and Sunday after the Sun. Of course, different cultures may name their days as how they saw them numbered. Who considers Sunday the first day of the week? Many do, though there are those languages which consider Sunday as being the 7th day (refer back to the Creation Story when God rested on the 7th day).

I mention this because today, Saturn-day, Saturn and the Sun are conjunct at 16 degrees of Aquarius. Saturn rules Aquarius traditionally, and as the Sun is opposite the sign that it rules (the Sun rules Leo), it is Saturn that is in a very powerful position today. The last time that Saturn and the Sun were in conjunction (occupying the same portion of sky to the viewer from Earth- though of course, not the same space) was on the 30th January 1992. This is because Saturn takes around 30 years to orbit the Sun. So think back at what you were doing around the end of January in 1992 and compare it to what you are doing today: Have you realised that you need to complete a project, or started a new one?

Saturn in Aquarius is all about ideas, new or innovative ideas in particular. Aquarius is also a fixed sign, so ideas here can also become dogmatic with time and need to be thrown out for new ones to move in. Yes, there is a sense of revolution associated with this idea, which is why the eccentric and free thinking Uranus was assigned to Aquarius, though most astrologers will agree that it does not 'rule' Aquarius in that sense.

Have a look at your birth chart and see if you have any planets in Aquarius: Saturn has moved into your area and is challenging you to look inwards and  "recognise aspects of ourselves that we need to mature" (taken from https://medium.com/mystic-minds/saturn-in-aquarius-2020-2023-and-pluto-in-aquarius-from-2023-6ef3dd77330a)

I just thought it was interesting that Saturn meets the Sun on a Saturnday and wanted to share this.

Blessings

Cindy
