New Moon in Leo and a few Lionesses!

Before I put pen to paper (metaphorically speaking - because here it's fingertips to keypad), I often wonder what to include in a report or text about a new of full moon. Sometimes, I think it's more fun to include non-related details (though by a large stretch of the imagination, one could possibly link them), after all, not everyone comprehends astrological mumbo jumbo. So here goes.

Today's New Moon in Leo occurs at 5 degrees of Leo. The chart itself reveals that the Moon and Sun occupy the same space of sky - well, not exactly - but they are in line. The exact time is around sunset (which is why they are on the western horizon - see chart). The story the chart is presenting is not only one of a new moon, but also something astrologers are making much of at the moment: Uranus conjunct the North Node, with Mars about to join the party. Uranus is pretty much a generational planet; it was discovered during the time of revolutions in the late 1700s and is associated with what it takes to be something of a rebel. The North Node is not a planet; this requires some sort of an explanation. The Moon does wobble a bit, and this means that 'she' sort of crosses over the ecliptic (the equator projected out into space) either going north, or going south of the ecliptic. The ancients knew this, and associated the north and south node in an astrological chart as a story of the person's path or journey in life. Uranus the rebel meeting the North Node (where one's destiny lies) talks of imminent change. Mars the warrior is close by so that adds fuel power to the journey. This is the flavour of this New Moon. Leo is all about courage, showing one's creative qualities and being a bit of a show-off. If this were a personal chart, the above-mentioned aspects would not go undetected, but it is not: it is a New Moon chart and it just indicates patterns in the sky. Uranus/Mars/North Node power might be something you need to move mountains and that's okay, but not if you're the mountain happy to stay where you are. If you like your status quo, use that energy to stand your ground. It might work.

There's lots of talk of lionesses at the moment, though. Did anyone watch the semi-final football match between England and Sweden? Lionesses, they called them, the English female footballers. Gosh, they were fierce!

I thought a little about this, New Moon in Leo and all, and wondered how England got its three lions. According to some websites, England first adopted a fixed form of heraldry around the year 1200 and this was the personal arms of the Plantagenet kings who ruled England from 1154. The lion (or leopard) symbol was used by Danish vikings, Saxons and others, but the first English king to use lions  was Richard the First - yes, Richard the Lionheart, and initially had two lions on his shield. He later changed this to three lions to represent his titles of King of the English, Duke of Normandy (descendant of William I) and Duke of Aquitaine, the latter title coming to him through his marriage to the famous Eleonor of Aquitaine. Richard Coeur du Lion really shouts out to you during a Leo New Moon, right?

Luckily for us, royal birth times were recorded (and astrological charts drawn up), so we do have a birth time for Richard Lionheart's birth. His astrological chart shows a Leo ascending sign (why are we surprised?) with a Virgo Sun (nitpicker)  and a Libra Moon (I want peace - shoots arrow to kill you and get it). His natal Mars is in Cancer - in a water sign ruled by the Moon. If you were a soldier - Richard loved his battles - you'd want Mars to be in a fire sign, like Aries, Leo or Sagittarius I would think. Richard was eventually slain  when he succumbed to an injury which became gangrenous. And it was a boy who 'dun it'. With a crossbow.

Back to the lionesses - Leah Williamson, as captain of the football team, represents the Lionesses (do we have to be sexist here? I shall call them 'lions').
At the centre of this bi-chart is Richard I's birth chart, hers is on the outside. Her Mars meets his Sun, her Mercury meets his Jupiter, and her Moon meets his Neptune. I do reckon there's a touch of the old Lionheart here! Will they win on Sunday?

Oh I do love going down rabbit holes!

I hope you enjoyed this.

Blessings,

Cindy
