New Moon in Pisces and Saturn and Pluto moving sign
We have a New Moon in Pisces on the 20th February at 8:05am. Pisces is the 12th sign of the zodiac and is traditionally ruled by Jupiter, its modern ruler being Neptune. Before the discovery of the outer planets, the planet Jupiter was given rulership of the sign of the two fishes (as well as being the ruler of Sagittarius). This is quite an interesting detail; apart from the Sun and the Moon (the two luminaries), each known planet ruled two zodiac signs, though the planets Mercury through to Saturn behaved quite differently in their assigned signs. In this case, Jupiter in Pisces takes on the role of the mystic because Pisces is the sign associated with 'giving up' one's ego. It is no surprise, then, that the sign of the two fishes is associated with early Christianity, for the 'saviour' is someone who sacrifces their ego for the sake of the whole. If you have a planet in Pisces in your natal chart, then that planet behaves quite differently from another water sign, say, Cancer or Scorpio. Jupiter in Pisces is the guru-type of energy. A New Moon represents a new cycle. In the world of agriculture, seeds are sown at the new moon. Similarly, we can set our new intentions which will culminate at the Full Moon in Virgo in two weeks time. Let's not forget that Pisces is the last month of the zodiacal year and that when the Sun enters Aries on the 21st of March, it is really about the Sun crossing the equinoctial and the point at which the Sun crosses the first point of Aries, that is, the Sun crosses the plane of the earth's equator (the equinoctial is the equator projected out into space - an imaginary plane - the celestial equator). The sign of Pisces is the last bus stop before it returns to the bus terminus, so to speak.
So what should our intentions be in this spiritual sign? Well, it is no surprise that Lent tends to start when the Sun is travelling through the sign of Pisces, after all, Easter is determined as being three days after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. Think about this: this ties in with the idea of 'preparing' for the time when the Sun will return to the northern hemisphere with the promise of the rebirth of nature.
So what's happening in this New Moon Chart? First of all, Saturn is at the end of Aquarius and stands poised to enter Pisces on the 8th March. Pluto is the big player, though, which is transiting the last degree of Capricorn at the moment, and enters Aquarius on the 23rd of March. What does this mean? Saturn the taskmaster will leave its own domicile (it rules both Capricorn and Aquarius, traditionally) and in Pisces will be something of a grounding force. The Pisces experience can be quite ethereal, but with Saturn there, the effect will be one of ensuring common sense prevails.
Pluto the Transformer on the other hand, is leaving the sign of Capricorn, long associated with the business world. We have seen how the world of business sometimes (!) conducts shady dealings with those who represent government and organisations. Aquarius is the sign of humanity-let progress. We should be seeing transformation (we have already seen how billions can be wiped out with just one bird 'tweet') led by those who have the bettering of the human condition at heart. In order to build anew, old ideas have to be destroyed, so the next few years could be quite interesting.
Also note that Venus and Pluto are 60 degrees apart, with Saturn playing 'piggy in the middle' at 28 degrees of Aquarius. Any Venus and Pluto aspects tend to be quite intense and usually play out in relationship or money scenarios. However, Saturn is at the centre of this, so this is an excellent aspect because it 'grounds' this vibe. It works. Whatever it is you want to do or achieve, this is a good time to get your act on the road.
This New Moon offers you a good opportunity to ditch that which no longer serves you, Clear out our cupboards or any mental baggage weighing you down. Set your intentions and don't forget to ask the heavens/skies/stars/powers that be for help (that's Pisces for you).I hope you enjoyed reading this.
Blessings,
Cindy
