An eclipse and the Malta chart: New Moon in Aries
The New Moon on the 20th April occurs at 29degrees 50 minutes of Aries just before sunrise. This means that the Sun will be just below the horizon and not visible at that time. It is a hybrid eclipse. What does this mean?
In one calendar year, Earth usually experiences four to six eclipses. Most years we get two eclipses twice yearly as they usually come in pairs. Some years we have two pairs of three eclipses. Hybrid eclipses are not common and happen once every decade. For a more detailed explanation, apart from knowing that solar eclipses happen when the Moon blocks out the Sun's light, go to https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/hybrid-solar-eclipse.html (copy and right click to open in a new tab).
Eclipses are 'wild cards' which portend change, and depending on where they fall in your astrological chart, expect change to unfold, especially if they aspect a personal planet or one of the four angles of one's chart. Just to remind you, in days of old, the court astrologer would be called to work on the monarch's chart to ensure that no harm would befall his king of queen. The British monarchy has a longstanding history with eclipses; Prince William was born on the day a solar eclipse occurred whilst Henry the First of England died on a solar eclipse in 1133. King Charles was born the day an eclipse occurred and consequently married Diana Spencer on a solar eclipse day. They are not to be sneezed at, especially if you are a Mountbatten Windsor.
Let's look at this eclipse; first of all, it happens in the sign of Aries, even though it is at the very tail end. This seems to tell us is that whatever is going to change is bringing in something very new. Within a few minutes of the eclipse, the Sun will rise over the horizon (the Ascendant, the easternmost point of the chart). Okay - so the next step is to look at which planet rules Aries; Mars. Where is Mars? Let's look at the next picture. I need to point out that the positions of the planets in the info-pics posted here are related to Malta as a place. Astrology charts are time, place and date specific.Mars, the warrior planet, occupies the sign of Cancer (which the Moon rules) at 13 degrees. This means that although the Sun is in Aries, and this is an eclipse, there is going to be a strong 'warrior' energy running through the event. Furthermore, Mars occupies the same degree as the fixed star Sirius. Sirius is the Dog Star, the brightest star in the sky and adopted and adducted into many mythologies across the globe. In ancient Egypt, Sirius was the spiritual home of the pharaohs. It was called 'The Shining One' in days of old, or 'the Scorcher' one that burns, being associated with fire. Which brings me to the next idea: Mars conjunct Sirius is on one of the angles (the astrological chart is divided into four parts, Ascendant/Descendant and MC/IC (nadir and zenith). With Mars on the zenith/IC. this means that Mars occupies the space which astrologers call the 4th house. This relates to the home/clan/inherited traits. Having Mars in this space can suggest many things, but one that sticks out is that Mars the warrior, together with the Scorcher, can bring about 'heated arguments' within the home environment. One friend's chart I had once looked at had his natal Mars in this area of the chart and I asked whether firepower was part of his home background; his father had owned a firearms business. That's Mars in the area of home. In this case, home is Malta.
It is this energy of Mars which is ruling the solar eclipse. There is also the fact that Mars' declination is 24'39 - beyond the 23'15 which marks the bounds of the Sun, and this is what is called 'out-of-bounds'. This gives Mars a somewhat 'joker/wild card' energy and together with the eclipse, we are not talking about an ordinary eclipse here.
Now, we have to put Malta's National Chart into the picture. This only gets better.
Malta's national chart (21st September 1964) has an Ascendant of 15'32 degrees of Cancer. This means that on the 21st Sep 64, at the stroke of midnight, the zodiac sign ascending over the eastern horizon was Cancer, specifically at 15 degrees and 32 minutes. This is hardly surprising as Malta is home to the culture of the Mother Goddess, and Cancer is all about nurturing/motherhood/security.
With the solar eclipse Mars at 13 degrees at the moment of the eclipse, this means that when you put the two charts together, that Mars + Sirius becomes a very important part of the solar eclipse. So how will this be played out? Will the domestic situation be 'hot' in any way around the 20th? We'll have to wait and see.
I hope you enjoyed reading this.
Blessings all round,
Cindy
