Of the Wood Dragon and a power-packed New Moon

A New Moon in Aquarius graces our skies at two minutes to midnight on the 9th February 2024. Not only that, but it is also the Chinese New Year, but more about that later.

Aquarius is an air sign traditionally ruled by the planet Saturn. Between the last ten days of January (or thereabouts) until the 20th of February, the Sun will rise against the backdrop of the Water Bearer, Aquarius. We are moving away from the longest night towards Spring with singular vision. Hence, there is a sense of hope for the future, and therein lies the idea of Aquarius; vision, ideals and humanity.

Saturn is the only planet to rule two adjacent zodiac signs. The qualities Saturn possesses are unlike the constrictive nature of Saturn in Capricorn. In Aquarius, Saturn brings people together with ideas; it builds with ideas.

The co-ruler of Aquarius is Uranus, who has more of a rebellious nature (although Saturn would in Aquarius would also go against the grain for the good of others). Uranus' glyph looks pretty much like an aerial, which is a good way to remember that Uranus is all about technological innovation and anything else connected to space. Similarly, it  has something of an electrical nature and is connected to kundalini. So it is not surprising that this New Moon will have something 'electrical' about it. Let's look at the story the sky is offering us.

You will recall that one can set down new intentions at the new moon. What powers this new moon is the Sun/Moon square Uranus, which suggests that challenges concerning relationships with others (business of otherwise) will give us opportunities for growth. The Uranus trine Venus in Capricorn seems to speak of opportunities in  forming relationships which serve a purpose but may not be long lasting. We may learn something about ourselves, or about others, and that is always good.

The Chinese New Year kicks off today, too. The Chinese zodiac is represented by 12 different animals which can have any of the 5 elements attributed to it, contributing to the 60-year cycle. This years New Year is attributed to the Wood Dragon. The Chinese New Year Wood Dragon symbolises a year of growth, vitality and renewal, where wood is associated with creativity, adaptability and strength. If you were born under the sign of the Dragon, you posses qualities such as resilience and resourcefulness.

The Wood Dragon's energy is about new beginnings, so this is an auspicious time to make your intentions, pursue goals and embrace change.  This particular combination of wood and dragon contains within it a harmonious blend of power and benevolence. Sounds good!

So, make your intentions. Dragon power will get you what you need.

Enjoy!

Cindy
