Gemini New Moon and the Venus Star Point

This is extraordinarily late, as the New Moon graced our skies three days ago on the 6th June at 14:37. Still, I wanted to get this post out there as I know there are readers who do enjoy reading these posts.

New Moons mark the start of the lunar month, a time when intentions are made, bringing with it the hope of new beginnings. Gemini is the sign of the heavenly twins and one wonders, all those thousand of years ago, when (wo)mankind looked at the skies in an attempt to understand earthly events, how and why did they come up with the constellation of Gemini being a set of twins? Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac after Aries and Taurus and if we try to map the development of human consciousness, first we are aware of ourselves, then come our needs, then our 'going out into the world'. Gemini therefore talks about how we communicate with others. According to Bernadette Brady, the notion of two 'twin' stars embody the human psyche, with its capacity for light and darkness. Think of it as yin and yang.

So what story is the sky offering us at this New Gemini Moon? This is a highly auspicious time as Venus is partile (exactly conjunct) the Sun, marking the beginning of a Venus cycle. Remember that the planet Venus has its own cycle that was greatly revered by the ancients. The auspicious number forty refers to number of days that Venus will disappear from the evening sky, after which she reappears in the morning sky. The meeting of Venus and the Sun means that Venus will be bathed in the Sun's light (exact conjunction occurred on the 4th June 2024). Around the end of July, we shall begin to see Venus setting in the west after sunset. When she appears just before dawn, that will be 'birth of Venus', as depicted in the famous painting by Botticelli.

Venus travels around the Sun and her cycle is an eight year one; each time it conjuncts the Sun, it creates what is called a 'Star Point'. It does this about 5 times in an 8-year cycle, as seen in the diagram here. The current cycle began in June 2020 at 13 degrees Gemini and will end in June 2028 at 11 degrees Gemini. The cycle then starts again.

The emphasis of this New Moon seems to be focused on the theme of renewal. Gemini is all about communication, siblings, short trips, education....it represents  curiosity, communicative and somewhat intellectual abilities.

So what is the New Moon in Gemini about? Currently we are experiencing the change from Venus being a morning star to an evening star. Venus as an evening star has a 'softer' feel and conjunct a New Moon in Gemini offers us the possibility  to be a bit more peaceful. Case in point - a family gathering in the abode of two Scorpios this weekend (think gunpowder and fuse at the ready): around 20 people got together to celebrate a birthday and everyone had a great time. Venus squares the hard taskmaster Saturn, which speaks of relationships (Venus is about how we relate to others)....slow to relate to others well, but once a friendship is established, it remains steadfast. So make the most of this New Moon - and take the opportunity to establish new patterns.

I hope you find this post interesting.

Blessings,

Cindy
