New Moon in Cancer and getting Sirius!

Hello New Moon in Cancer! Considered by the ancients as the gateway to the gods, this New Moon occurs today, 6th June at 14:37 and is a potent celestial event that invites us to explore themes of nourishment, connection and care. Remember, the emotions inform us when 'something is not right' - hence, it is a gateway to our intuition. The term 'following your gut', or a gut feeling, usually arises when you feel something is amiss and it has saved many a life in times gone past. It works in business, too.

This New Moon, therefore presents us with an opportunity to explore our emotional depth. Cancer is a water sign and governs the emotions, family and home. At this time our feelings run deep, urging us to connect with our inner world. The pull to set aside time and examine our inner worlds and understand our subjective experiences is at an all-time high.

It is worth noticing that Venus, the planet which stands for networking and relating, is also in the sign of Cancer. At this time we may feel drawn to stable  sources of support and long-lasting connections. Venus adds a sweet overtone to the whole New Moon energy. Ask yourself how you can truly nourish yourself at this time, What is it that feeds and adds to your sense of security?

The New Moon is always about setting your intentions. Most gardeners will know that the best time to sow seeds is at the New Moon. Similarly, starting anew is a perfect time to garner the cosmic energies to start new projects or habits.

In summary, this intuitive New Moon in Cancer invites us all to explore our emotional landscape, prioritise self-care and connect with our roots. (I should post a blog on the astrology of the UK elections. The emphasis of Labour's manifesto was on 'home' issues. That's Cancer issues!)

This New Moon also aligns with the fixed star Sirius, also known as the Dog Star. In Ancient Egypt, the heliacal rising of Sirius marked the annual flooding of the Nile, bringing fertility to the land and was crucial for agriculture.

A whole body of information exists on the science and myth of the fixed star Sirius, which graces our night sky as one of the most brilliant celestial objects visible from Earth. It is no wonder, then, that the ancient Egyptians were captivated by it, weaving it into their myth and religion.  It is associated with the goddess Isis and was considered to be the place the souls of the pharaohs travelled to after death. Called the 'Watcher of the East', it held immense significance, symbolising rebirth, wisdom and spiritual awakening.

(As an aside, all eyes on Mars as it approaches Uranus, making July a very 'fiery' month. Let's see what's brewing.... and just in case you didn't know, Etna is erupting again. )

In astrology, this fixed star carries deep symbolism and holds a special place in various cultural and spiritual traditions.  In Fixed Star astrology, it is held that any planet in paran with Sirius confers upon that planet a spiritual dimension.

This New Moon conjoined with Sirius, therefore, brings illumination and purpose. It invites us to awaken to our true essence and shine brightly in the world.

I hope you enjoyed reading this.
