I know it's late, but....

Finally, time to write a few words (hopefully more) about the solar eclipse of the 2nd October 2024. If my schedule this week was a description of the nature of this solar eclipse, then I might feel less perturbed for not having this blog post up in time. Between work, rehearsals for a concert, a funeral and a wake, there was hardly any time to look at the charts. In this blog post, I'll try to bring the essentials to your attention.

Solar eclipses come in families and like children, they are born, grow up and pass on. This family of solar eclipse (also called Saros Cycle) was born in 1718 CE and will end in 2962 AD. Work done by the esteemed astrologer Bernadette Brady informs us that the nature of this eclipse is one of separation and loss, so let's keep that in the background. She further describes this 'separation and loss'  (among other things of the same nature) as when we finish something and have to let it go; the feeling of having to go forward without that 'something'. (Ha! That would explain the funeral and the wake!)

With this in mind, let us have a look at the eclipse chart. First of all, we have a Sun/Moon/Mercury configuration in the sign of Libra. Most people know Libra as the zodiac sign associated with love, peace and harmony. That is true - however we must remember that Libra is a cardinal sign, the initiation of action. "This is what we do to get that love, peace and harmony". It is a sign ruled over by Venus who is a morning star and also an evening star. In modern times she is known to many as the planet associated with the many forms of love. In Sumerian times, however, she was also known as the goddess of war and battles.

In the second chart, the highlighted connections show which planets are aspecting each other.

The yellow-connected points show Mars 90 degrees (challenging) away from the Sun, Moon and Mercury. Mars is in the sign of Cancer; this sign represents the home and Mars is the warrior acting as an agent for the home/family/clan.

The green-connected planets show Venus in Scorpio (very intuitive, sees what's hidden) connected to Mars in Cancer (defending the home) with Saturn in Pisces (the holy man in authority).

The blue-connected planets are Uranus (rebellion) and Pluto (transformation), both connected to Neptune (idealism) as a focal point.

These are the layers of meaning and is quite complex, so let's start with the fundamentals. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is in line with the Sun and hides it. To the eyes of ancient man, this was something to be very wary of as the sun was seen as the bringer of life. Light was hidden. Venus in Scorpio speaks of finding out the truth and with Mercury close to the Sun it suggests that what is hidden will be revealed. This is assisted by Venus the Truthfinder who, though Mars the home defender challenges Mercury the Messenger to spill the beans. Perhaps this is where Brady's interpretation of this Saros Cycle comes in - truth being revealed and having to let go of something we have always held to be true.

On a personal level, if you have anything at 10 degrees in a zodiac sign (except for Scorpio and Virgo), then this eclipse is significant to you; some revelation will enable you to go forward on a spiritual level. If not, check where Libra is in your chart and the activity associated with that house is where you should see change occurring.

Last but not least, Jupiter at 21 degrees Gemini - this has so many connections to the USA, President DT, VP Kamala Harris and Israel's national chart. Jupiter is a benevolent planet so one lives in hope. Things are still unfolding so no further comment is added as the writer is no expert in the crazy world of policy makers.

I hope you found this interesting.

Blessings,

Cindy
