The Year of the Snake - Aquarius New Moon
Happy Chinese New Year - today 29th January 2025. The upcoming Chinese Year of the Wood Snake, symbolises wisdom, intuition, and transformation. People born under this sign are known for their intelligence, grace, and enigmatic nature. This year encourages introspection, strategic thinking, and embracing change, making it a time for personal growth and new opportunities.
This New Moon in Aquarius on January 29, 2025, marks a significant astrological event, ushering in the Year of the Snake. This New Moon is a time for new beginnings, innovation, and forward-thinking. Aquarius, known for its association with community, teamwork, and long-term goals, encourages us to embrace change and think outside the box.
(The last time we celebrated the Year of the Wood Snake was in 1965. Martin Luther King Jr. and 700 demonstrators were arrested in Selma, Alabama, among other interesting facts. This particular fact is significant when you think that many on the planet are still fighting for their rights to be recognised.)
During this New Moon, the energies of the Sun and Moon align in Aquarius, creating a powerful moment for setting intentions and manifesting new projects. It's an ideal time to focus on personal growth, career advancements, and strengthening relationships. The influence of Aquarius promotes collaboration and collective progress, making it a perfect time to connect with others and work towards common goals.
To begin with, the New Moon (Moon and Sun) make a harmonious aspect with Jupiter in the sign of Gemini, bringing the communication skills to the table, enabling the implementation of innovative ideas. This lunation encourages us to break free from old patterns and embrace new possibilities, paving the way for a transformative year ahead.
Another aspect worth noting is the connection Mars makes to Venus and Saturn. Remember that Mars is doing its 'backwards walk' through Cancer. Cancer is about the home and hearth, and with the home warrior retracing its steps, plus the harmonious aspect to the both the compassionate Venus and persevering Saturn in the watery sign of Pisces, we can harness this energy to reflect on our perspectives.
But above all this, is two fixed stars: Altair and Castor.
Mercury has just entered the sign of Aquarius and is making contact with the alpha star Aquila, the Eagle. Of course, we immediately make a connection with the US, and Mercury is the communicator. Eagles fly high and get a bird's eye view, so having Mercury connected to this star suggests a position which is somewhat regal but also arrogant, especially as it is conjunct Pluto. This is truly transformative.
The other fixed star is Castor, one of the Gemini Twins, which makes an aspect to Mars. According to Chinese astrology, when these two come together in the sky, it does not augur well for the harvest and also for a peaceful year. Considering that this is the Year of the Snake, let us say that this (lunar) year promises to be an interesting one where we shed old, long-held beliefs. Mars is out-of-bounds and therefore embodies something of a 'wild card' nature. Expect anything, anything akin to someone telling you 'Bring umbrellas to the desert just in case it rains camels'.
I hope you enjoyed reading this!
Blessings,
Cindy
