New Moon in Aquarius and Chinese New Year!

Image
Good evening, peeps! The New Moon in Aquarius is exact at 12 degrees on Tuesday 1st February at 06:46 and marks the beginning of the Year of the Water Tiger in Chinese astrology. I'm no expert on Chinese astrology as it works differently than Western astrology. It is based on a 12-year cycle, and each year is assigned an animal. If you check a reputable website, you will find which animal year you were born in. It is quite interesting.  However, back to this New Moon. At new moons, the Sun and Moon occupy the same position in the zodiac. The Sun is currently transiting the sign of Aquarius, the sign of the water bearer - but it is not a water sign at all. Aquarius is an air sign and is ruled over by Saturn (who also rules Capricorn) in traditional astrology. What about Uranus, I hear you say? Uranus was discovered by Herschel on the 13th March 1781, expanding the then known boundaries of the solar system. That period in history is associated with revolutions - France the the...

About tomorrow's election for President of EU Parliament....

I'm not one to write about predictions when it comes to elections; I don't feel qualified enough, but when I looked at the stars for our own Maltese contender, Roberta Metsola, I have to say that it looks like she will get elected.  Roberta Metsola has Pluto in her 10th house of career, conjunct the Midheaven. Whenever a planet conjoins one of the four angles of the chart, it is going to be effective. Pluto conjunct the Midheaven talks of power in one's chosen career.  It is also her birthday tomorrow, which means that transiting Pluto is conjunct her natal Sun. A Sun-Pluto conjunction talks of change, of powerful change, and it seems to fit in with what seems to be the obvious.  Looking back at when she was elected Vice-President in 2020, transiting Saturn was occupying (conjunct) her natal Sun, indicating that she was taking on some mantle of authority.  Looking forward to tomorrow.  Cindy

Full Moon in Cancer

Image
This is the chart for the Full Moon of the 18 th January 2022. It occurs at 48 minutes past midnight – in Malta. This is a very particular Full Moon chart; both Mercury and Venus are doing their backwards walk (retrograde motion), Saturn and Uranus are disengaging from a challenging square aspect, and most notably, the Sun and Pluto are conjunct in Capricorn. This also means that the Moon opposes Pluto (because the Sun opposes the Moon, and the Sun and Pluto are within one degree of each other). This is going to be an intense time, especially because this Full Moon is a Cancer full moon. Cancer is the sign ruled by the moon, and in astrology, the Moon rules our emotions. Mercury and Venus are called the personal planets. Mercury tells us a little bit about how we effect communication. This planet is symbolised by the god Hermes, who, if you recall, wears a hat with wings, and also has wings on his feet. It tells us how we think. When Mercury goes retrograde, it can symb...

New Moon in Capricorn 2022

Image
We will hardly have had time to get over the New Year’s celebrations when 2022 is ushered in with a Capricorn New Moon. This new moon heralds in the new year with a Sun-Moon conjunction at 12 degrees of Capricorn after sunset on the 2 nd January at 19:33hrs. Significant is the nice and easy trine to the eccentric Uranus at 10 degrees of Taurus, which tells us that if we want to do things differently, the energy of this new moon is available to yours and sundry. All you need is some motivation to go for it, after all, the New Moon phase is a great time to get your plan into action.     With a Leo ascendant, the ruler of this chart is the Sun king himself, who, by virtue of being in the very organised and business-like Capricorn will find not objection to getting the house in order after two weeks of focusing on how to survive the festivities. That’s where Uranus steps in: out-of-the-box, pro-social attitudes towards responsibility (hey, the Sun King is in Cap...

It all happened on Christmas Day!

Image
Thanks to a little book I got from a book fair, I came across a list of historical events which happened on Christmas Day. It has long been accepted that the day itself is probably not the date of Jesus Christ’s birth. The New Testament states that shepherds watched their flocks by night, something which would not have occurred on long winter nights, but rather on late spring nights, according to astrologer Christine Arens, who examined the possibility that the bright star in the East, mentioned in the New Testament and, according to Arens and others, was a Jupiter-Saturn conjunction (occupying the same ‘portion’ of sky). Point of note: Christmas was first celebrated on the 25 th December in the year 336AD. Celebrating the birth of a messianic king did leave its impact, however. Both Charlemagne and William the Conqueror were crowned kings on Christmas Day. The story of Charlemagne is one of a devout Christian and successful conqueror who was crowned by Pope Leo III in Rome,...

Merry Solstice!

Image
Merry Solstice, readers!  At 16:59 hrs today, the 21st of December, the Sun moved into the zodiac sign of Capricorn, marking the end of its journey south and the return of light to the northern hemisphere. In three days, the light will begin to increase.  The return of light may not be that significant for us people living on an island in the Mediterranean, but further up north, where the nights are never ending, Yuletide was a huge event, where logs were burnt and people sat around fires and told stories. More south, our megalithic temples are now understood to be calendars in stone to mark the seasons, so tracking the movement of the Sun is understood to have been important, whether it was done for spiritual or agricultural purposes.  Astrologically, the chart cast for the Capricorn Ingress tells us a little bit about what's to come over the next few months. The Sun (circle with a dot) was below the horizon at zero degrees Capricorn. Most notable is a square aspe...

Full Moon in Gemini...and more about Venus

Image
Full Moon in Gemini   Hello everyone! Apologies for uploading this a few hours later than I intended to. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this bit of writing about this morning's Full Moon. The Full Moon on the 18 th of December falls in Gemini, the sign of the Twins. This event occurred at 05:35 this morning   with the moon setting in the west. Full Moons in Gemini usually highlight issues to do with communication and movement and pertain to all those things which concern how we move about and commune in daily life. As Mercury rules this full moon (Mercury rules the sign of Gemini), we should look to its position in the chart and whether it makes any aspects to another planet or point (such as the Midheaven). In the chart, Mercury is at 8 ° of Capricorn and trines (120 ° to another planet/point) Uranus, which is currently at 11 ° of Taurus, so watch out for inspirational, brilliant, out-of-the-box ideas. Mercury is also out-of-bounds (a term which means its d...
