  This blog post will probably get to you a little bit late. You know how it is, it's June and I'm marking student papers. You know how it is when you work in Education.  Early on Sunday morning, on the 18th of June, the Moon and the Sun conjoined in what is termed a New Moon at 26 degrees of Gemini. Gemini is the 3rd zodiac sign and is associated with communication, short travel and siblings. It can also refer to scholastic education - and maybe that's why I'm marking  papers at this time of the year. Although June usually marks the end of the academic year for most students, a new moon in Gemini is a very good time to sow seeds for the coming year. Usually it is seen as an excellent time to plan for the future.   A Full Moon graces the skies in the early hours of Sunday 4th June at 5:41am. This occurs just before sunrise, and sets the tone for the next two weeks. Full Moons are usually seen as a time when the intentions set at the Full Moon bloom.  A Full Moon is, as another astrologer, Jessica Adams, put it, a full stop. it is time to stop and look back. This is the reason why new seeds are never sown at full moon time, but at new moon. Traditionally, astrologers never advised new plans to be implemented at that time.  A Full Moon in Sagittarius receives light from the Sun in Gemini, the zodiac sign associated with all forms of communication and also with siblings and short journeys. If you look at the chart for this Full Moon, you can see that the Sun was rising, making this chart ruled over by Mercury (which rules Gemini).   This evening, just before sunset, the Sun and Moon conjoined at what is called a New Moon. This New Moon at 28 degrees of Taurus is ruled over by the planet Venus, as it rules Taurus. New Moons in Taurus are about setting intentions concerning our values, or what we value in life. Hathor Let's talk about Venus. At the moment of the New Moon, Venus will occupy 13 degrees of Cancer, a position held by the fixed star Sirius. Anyone who is into the cosmology of Ancient Egypt would instantly associated Taurus with the goddess Hathor. which is why she is represented as having dual horns in her headdress. As a giver of life, she carries the ankh in her left hand.   This evening, at 7:34pm, a lunar eclipse in the turbulent sign of Scorpio will grace the heavens. What is remarkable about this particular lunar eclipse is not only the fact that it is occurring some hours before a much awaited coronation of a king, but also because this supercharged Full Moon lunation makes so many aspects to Charles Mountbatten-Windsor's own personal chart.     The New Moon on the 20th April occurs at 29degrees 50 minutes of Aries just before sunrise. This means that the Sun will be just below the horizon and not visible at that time. It is a hybrid eclipse. What does this mean?  In one calendar year, Earth usually experiences four to six eclipses. Most years we get two eclipses twice yearly as they usually come in pairs. Some years we have two pairs of three eclipses. Hybrid eclipses are not common and happen once every decade.   Yesterday's post was about the Sun-Jupiter conjunction. So I was pleasantly surprised when this came up around breakfast time.....   Good morning - this is just a quick post to highlight a celestial event happening at the moment. Jupiter, the planet to do with expansion and joy, is conjunct the Sun at 21 to 22 degrees of Aries. Jupiter is travelling with the Sun which means this planet is not visible by night.  Jupiter conjunct (occupying the same space) the Sun is a very fortunate aspect, so if you have anything between 20 to 23 degrees in Aries or Libra, Pisces or Virgo, Aquarius or Leo, and Capricorn or Cancer, this is a highly auspicious sign. It signifies growth and expansion with benefic results.  Let's give an example. This is the aspect that this heavenly conjunction is making to a person's chart who has their own natal Mercury at 21 degrees of Cancer.
